The Young Gun Execs program is a demanding and transformational nine-month experience requiring a commitment of fifteen hours per month from each participant.

Classroom Component (3 hours)

The thirty members of your cohort will meet monthly in a classroom setting for
  • A facilitated, real-world case discussion surrounding the Mastery Skill of the month
  • A review and discussion of the readings and experiences assigned for the month
  • Translation of the Mastery Skill into the context of your professional and personal world
Classes meet from 6:00-9:00 p.m. on the same weeknight of the same week each month.

Executive Coach Interface (1.5 hours)

Many executive education programs have no immediate impact on your performance. Young Gun Execs, however, engages you for two, 45-minute, one-on-one meetings with a wise executive coach to apply the learning from the coursework into actionable next steps toward your personal and professional goals. With your coach, you will develop a performance dashboard so that you can see monthly improvement on your greatest challenges. In addition, your executive coach is available for email and phone interaction throughout the program.

Study Triad Meeting (2 hours)

In preparation for your classroom experiences, you will be assigned to meet with a study triad of other über-talented Young Guns to digest course material, test theories, and sharpen one another.

Readings and Learning Experiences (9 hours)

The remainder of your time between classroom meetings will be spent engaged in the following:
  • Case study of personal and business scenarios related to the Nine Skills of Executive Mastery
  • World-class wisdom from top authors, speakers and thinkers to help you begin your personal leadership library
  • Online gaming simulations that test your mastery of key business principals
  • Assessment instruments, field work assignments, and learning write-ups
  • Touch-points with your nominating executive or some other mentor

Other Components

Launch Event – You and your significant other are invited to an informal dinner party with your new Young Gun colleagues one week before the program officially begins, so that you can meet your cohort and instructor, set expectations for the program, acquire your course materials, and get fired up for the journey ahead.

Weekend Retreat – The sixth skill of Executive Mastery, Self-Awareness, requires a weekend, overnight stay at a local retreat center. This energizing, fun-packed, and deep-diving 24 hours will help you identify your personality and character traits that drive value for you and others, while helping you see some of your barriers to progress. Rest assured, this event will not be an intimidating boot camp experience that forces people to face their past, nor will it be a touchy-feely love fest. We find it is beneficial to remove Young Guns from their familiar context for a day in order get a new perspective.
